MEMBER NEWS

The San Diego Wildlife Federation is having their National Hunting and Fishing Day September 27, 2008, at Lake Murray. There will be a kids fishing contest with no licenses required. There will also be 3 raffles. A kids raffle, a general raffle and grand prize raffle with 3 grand prizes. For more information, contact Don Barthel at (691) 475-8746.

According to Leita Estes, we will be receiving a letter from the GSPCA about retrieving in field trials. The Colorado GSPC has requested a change to retrieving in field trials due to a lack of retrieving trials in their area.

Don Fidler won the Amateur Gun dog stake at the GSPCA National Field Trial.

We wish Ken Clody a speedy recovery after his tractor accident. Ken was taken to Sharps Hospital Trauma Unit. He is home now and doing fine.

Former member Bob Fortenberry has been hospitalized with cancer. Six of the eight GSPs have been placed in rescue.

 2008 GSPCSD DIRECTORY

Club Directories have been mailed, anyone who has not received their copy should contact Leanne at (858) 748-2624.

GSPCSD PLACEMENT SERVICE

The GSPCSD Placement Service has been very successful. Numerous GSP's have been placed in homes instead of ending up in shelters. Owners have taken the responsibility for their own GSP by keeping them until good homes could be found through the club's placement service. Dogs needing homes are placed on the club's web site Placement Service Page as well as posted at vets and pet stores. It is good to see that owners are willing to work with the club for the betterment of their dog when placement in necessary.  The money received from the club's Specialty Show raffle helps to fund the club's placement program so no fees are charged to the families who are adopting a GSP.
